New Sunset Cruise Provides Volcano Views on Arenal

Despite its remote location 35 minutes away from La Fortuna, La Mansion Inn Arenal boutique hotel offers the best view of the Arenal Volcano in the region. While the hotel itself sits on the far edge of Lake Arenal with no direct view of the volcano, a new sunset cruise provides guests the most unique vantage point of flowing lava from the foot of the volcano.

The cruise is a new concept in the region and exclusively available to guests of La Mansion. The three hour cruise departs at 3:30 in the afternoon to skim the shores of the lake so guests can view the marine and wildlife in this remote region. Cheese, wine and refreshments are served, making for a comfortable, intimate atmosphere. After an hour, the boat arrives as the foot of the Arenal volcano, near the Rio Chiquito area, which is the ideal setting to view the streams of lava that constantly erupt from the volcano’s crater. Beautiful views of the sunset from the lake crown the boat’s lazy ride back to La Mansion.

ENCHANTING BIRD ISLAND, LOOK BUT DON’T TOUCH
Enchanting Bird Island, Look but don’t touch
Bocas del Toro, Panamá

A mile and a half north of Isla Colon rests a small group of islands most visitors to Bocas Del Toro don’t take the time to see. Wreck Rock and Sail Rock are, as their names imply, large rocky projections that, for centuries, have been primarily know only as hazards to sailors. Bird Island, however - Isla de Los Pajaros - is an incredibly beautiful tropical isle.

Bird Island is now a nationally designated bird sanctuary. Bird watching is done from boats only - setting foot on the island can cause irreparable damage to the resident birds` habitats and habits. Snorkeling is fine on calm days and swimming through the arches or riding through them on small waves in water taxis are thrills for the bravest visitors.
